Back to Basics
I have been reminding myself lately - that in this life, we are either growing and moving forward, or stalled out and dying slowly. There really is no standing still for more than a moment in time, or a brief string of moments.
To bring life energy through us into this world, my sense has always been that it is up to each of us individually to work with what we have to create what we came here to create.
We may lose our way at times, sometimes for long periods, but with grace and guidance, we find our way back to our path — we get back on track where we can focus on creating what our souls yearn to create. Whether that’s an experience, a community, a work of art, or a solution to help improve the human condition — all are acts of creation in their essence.
So what do we have to work with here in this world?
Around us and within, we have the physical elements, and life energy stirring them into motion. Inside and outside our bodies, we have earth, air, water, fire, and chi. These are the elements that our souls work with to create our life experiences, the paints and the canvas — the movie, the screen, and the projector all in one.
To work with these aspects of ourselves and our world, the inner and outer Universes, we have our physical senses to interact with the physical dimension, and our spiritual senses to help us navigate both seen and unseen energies.
But what is it that perceives? That sees the painting, watches the movie, observes the ebbs and flows of life itself?
Pervasive across all is awareness itself - consciousness.
Let’s Skip A Few Stones Across the Waters of Consciousness
Wu Wei
First stone we pick up is the notion of Wu Wei, an ancient Chinese concept meaning “effortless action”.
Wu Wei is not something you can cultivate or make happen. As Alan Watts shares - it is the art of sailing rather than the art of rowing.

Synchronicity
Synchronicity is the next stone we pick up now.
If you have ever heard the teachings of Bashar, you may be familiar with the following steps shared with us - steps that unlock a toolkit we can use to great effect.
Steps:
Act on anything that contains more excitement than anything else, any other option
To the best of your ability, taking it as far as you can until you can take it no further
With absolutely zero insistence or assumption on what the outcome ought to be
When you do these three things, the Toolkit becomes activated and available to you.
The Toolkit Contains:
Everything you need to be supported in your life no matter what form it may come.
It becomes the driving engine of your life that moves you forward through life.
It becomes the organizing principle in your life that demonstrates through synchronicity exactly what, who, when, and how.
It becomes the path of least resistance that allows you to flow through your life in the easiest possible way.
It becomes the path that connects to all other expressions of your excitement that are in alignment with your true vibration - even though that may look different.
It becomes the reflective mirror that reveals to you anything in your unconscious mind that may be out of alignment with your excitement so you can make it conscious, redefine it, and add its energy to your excitement.
Synchronicity is the way.
It is the what, who, when, how, and why. It is how our expanded and higher consciousness communicates with the aspect that is activated in this physical time-space world.
It’s Like Magic
It occurs to me that perhaps not everyone has had the experience in childhood of learning to skip stones across the water.
Something beautiful happens in the mind of a child when they witness someone pick up a plain old rock from the ground and proceed to fling it across the water in way that it starts bouncing and flying along the surface, leaving nothing but ripples in its wake.
If this seemingly heavy inanimate object can be commanded to fly, what other unimaginable, inconceivable things in this world are not only possible, but absolutely doable?
Like healing “incurable” diseases, housing the homeless, helping the mentally ill achieve integration and wholeness without the use of destructive pharmaceuticals?
We simply have no idea what is truly possible in this world! What could be more exciting than exploring and discovering the potential we humans have when we are at our best?
Dancing Our Wu Wei Through the End Times
From skipping stones to dancing through the end times — the more I am able to channel my attention and energy towards that which excites and energizes me, the easier everything becomes.
The kind of excitement I am talking about here is not mental or conceptual. It is an energy, a vibration. You can’t fake it or force it. When you listen to your body, when you listen to your heart — you know which way to go. You know who to work with and who to avoid. You know where in our life you are nourished and supported, and where in your life you are drained and dispirited.
When I trust God and trust in synchronicity, there is expansiveness and a flow to all things. The moment I start to worry, it's like falling out of a higher gear.
Have you ever had a flying dream? The kind where everything is amazing. You feel free as a bird. Then, for some reason, you get this flash of worry - “what if I fall”? And oooh, there you go, dropping like a brick!
I am reading a most interesting book: “Adventures Beyond the Body: How to Experience Out-of-Body Travel: Proving Your Immortality Through Out-of-Body Travel” by William Buhlman.
In this book, William includes numerous journal entries spanning the many years of his practice. There is a recurring theme - he leaves his body and embarks on another journey, another adventure in unknown places. Things are going well as he is off in an amazing place, out of body, doing incredible things... and then in a momentary glitch, he worries or thinks about his body or some other fearful things and snap! He instantly falls back into his body.
This not necessarily a bad thing. Indeed, it is probably a sort of safety mechanism.
Even though this is happening when out of body for the author, it reminds me a great deal of how things work out here in physical life experiences as well.
If you let go and learn to fly, you can get into a beautiful flow and start to experience incredible synchronicities — abundance, opportunities, and connections all just seem to pop up naturally in all directions.
It's a truly expansive state of consciousness.
And then, all it takes is a momentary fear to seemingly bring you back down to earth in a hurry. What is really happening here?
Unhealed Traumas Leave Unconscious Triggers In Their Wake
The unconscious mind seems to create its own IEDs, improvised explosive devices… landmines planted quite often in the most unexpected places.
Clearing these mines is an iterative task to be sure. You can sweep through your inner world time and again, not finding a thing. Then go out into the world with a beautiful idea - and just as it flowers into life, BAM! You become aware of those lingering triggers from long-dormant traumas from earlier in life.
When triggered, we constrict, collapse in on ourselves... the world gets darker and smaller.
But over time, as more healing and integration occurs, fewer triggers remain.
Life gets lighter, and easier. Never perfect perhaps, but you find yourself walking on ever more solid ground.
Regardless of where you are in the process between healing and flying, the aim remains the same - you fly towards that which lights you up, that which excites your soul the most!
For those of you that feel lost, unclear, unhappy - when is the last time you sat down and wrote a list of things that you care about and love? About things that energize and lift you up? What excites you the most in life, and what are you doing to move in those directions?
You don’t have to change your whole life to see the way here. Even small steps towards that which you love will help open things up. And what’s equally more important - finding ways to remove and let go of things that do NOT light you up.
You don’t have to force this. It’s much more about redirecting your attention and energy. It’s about where you invest yourself that matters.
So what is exciting you? What are you moving towards?
What's Exciting Me Lately
Episode 5
I just released Episode 5 of the High Mesa Mystic Show, an interview with Timmie Boose.
Timmie is an artist and musician, and a friend of mine that I met long ago back in college. It's amazing to me that we've stayed in touch all these years, despite our lives going off in very different places and directions.
I am grateful we've stayed in touch all this time, and thankful she agreed to come on to the show to share some of her insights and experiences.
Episode 6
The next episode to be released is with someone I have only recently come to know - Cynthia Cáñez.
I met Cynthia in our exoconscious coaching group. We share more about exoconsciousness and get to hear about many of Cynthia’s experiences with aspects of herself from other times and places.
The topic of Synchronicity comes up in our discussion time and again, in the context of how we are all multidimensional beings living more than one life in one place, all at once.
Discovering Earth Architecture and Nader Khalili
In a fusion of wu wei and synchronicity, I found myself recently helping some friends build a retainer wall out of earthbags. Earthbags are basically large plastic bags filled with dirt and tamped into place like large bricks.
This led to me to dig deeper (pun intended) to discover a building technique developed by Iranian architect Nader Khalili called Earth Architecture or superadobe.
Nader Khalili: Designing a Dream House
For several years now, I have been researching numerous ways to build small, inexpensive homes... potentially for myself, but also for others here where I live in New Mexico.
I am not sure how or why I overlooked this technique before now. However, I am primed to appreciate the many benefits of this building style due to recent experiences - not the least of which was living off grid in the desert for six months over the fall and into winter of 2021 to 2022.
This type of building would offer great comfort against the elements, and be easy to heat.
But the practical benefits are only one dimension of why this type of building appeals to me.
After learning more about Nader Khalili, I have come to really appreciate his vision of building with nature vs fighting against it. Likewise, his approach involves building with community by design. And he explicitly calls for the involvement of women in the building process, recognizing the unique creative energies that women bring to this kind of endeavor.
As if all of that is not enough, Nader’s work is also influenced and inspired by the poetry of Rumi.
"This place is a dream. Only a sleeper considers it real. Then death comes like dawn, and you wake up laughing at what you thought was your grief." — Rumi
Everything Everywhere All At Once
If you've seen the movie, you've had this experience of witnessing a swirling of seemingly unrelated events all appearing to happen all at the same time. Only near the end does the bigger picture emerge from the disparate characters and chaos.
This sort of feels like where we are at this odd juncture in history — moving through chaotic and seemingly unrelated events.
Will a bigger picture unfold? Or is it up to each of us to create meaning from the chaos?
Seems to me that the veil continues to thin, and communication across time and space is easier than ever. The trick, however, is being grounded, integrated, and coherent enough to be able to operate in this environment.
How am I doing on that front? Like many of us, some days are better than others.
The beauty of understanding wu wei means that we have an opportunity to learn how to relax, how to surf the waves, and to allow ourselves to flow with life energy as we move through unpredictable times.
If life is just going to be absurd for a while, might as well make some space for laughter and joy to balance out the difficulties.
How is it going for you?
Are things making sense? Are you fighting the chaotic, or dancing with fire? How might you be able to relax a bit more, and listen to the wind?
